Ode to AL1.

Two hundred and sixteen hours,
I spent wrapped in your cloak of ink and gold.
Chateau Chaumes Daubet, cathedral walks, and a roof top waltz,
Even meeting up with Charlie,
I was sightless to your faults.

One hundred and sixty-six minutes,
I leapt across trainlines.
In the company of flickering sunrises
And chalky moonlight blues,
I skipped with delight towards your surprises
In my lost little red shoes.

900 seconds,
And my unworn suit settled into its new home.
But the ecstasy is brief
As the bedside ashtray glared at me with the imprints of an old kiss.
But this did not belong to my lips,
Nor did it his.

My mouth twitched with confrontation.
Your temper proved foul.
How did I overlook
That you were known to so often prowl?

Though the time is no longer counted,
My toothbrush misses your bathroom sink.
I received your invitation for a rendezvous
And blushed shades of Japanese pink.
Such immaculate deceit and such violent truth.
But I’ll bring you the petals of my white rose,
If you’ll meet me at Platform Two.
